How Impact Windows Affect Your Florida Insurance Premium
What wind mitigation credits actually cover and the documentation carriers require.
Wind mitigation credits explained
Florida carriers apply premium credits for verified wind-resistant features. Opening protection is typically the largest single credit available on a residential policy.
The credit applies when all glazed openings are protected, so a partial replacement generally does not produce the full benefit.
Documentation you will need
After installation, a licensed inspector completes a uniform mitigation verification form. Your permit records, product approval numbers, and final inspection results support that form.
Keep your closeout package. Carriers periodically re-verify, and having documentation on hand keeps credits in place.
Setting realistic expectations
Savings vary by carrier, home age, location, and construction type. We do not quote a guaranteed percentage, and you should be cautious of any contractor who does.
Speak with your agent before signing. They can model the credit for your specific policy so you understand the actual return.
